D.P.F. (Diesel Particulate Filter) is a filter fiitted to the exhaust system that is very similar to a catalytic converter in looks. It is designed to remove diesel particulate matter or soot, and the objective is to produce cleaner exhaust gases. However, as many people will agree, they often cause a lot more trouble than they actually do good.
It is also worth mentioning that, it is not currently a legal requirement that a diesel vehicle be fitted with a D.P.F. nor is one needed to pass the yearly M.O.T.What exactly is involved in DPF removal?
In most cases DPF removal is possible by removing the D.P.F. housing from the exhaust system and replace it with a straight through pipe to re-complete the exhaust system. In other cases the housing will be removed, the filter parts inside the housing taken out and the housing then re-fitted to the vehicle. To complete the procedure, specialist computer equipment is plugged into the vehicle’s E.C.U. for some final adjustments.
